Sharp Art
Bruce Jamieson - artist
As a self taught artist - originally from Edinburgh, now living in Peebles - with an interest in buildings and all things military, I produce detailed work combining pen, pencil and watercolour.
Although I'm not a professional artist I have exhibited work at the Edinburgh Festival, Peebles Art Festival and various charity exhibitions.
My art is purely for personal enjoyment so most of my work has remained unseen, however over the years I have accumulated such a large portfolio that I have decided to show a selection to browse, comment on or indeed to purchase.

My style has been regarded as being similar to comic or book illustration which may reflect back to my impressionable childhood days when I had an aunt in America who sent me an abundance of comics ranging from cartoons and science fiction to classic stories, all in glorious colour in the days before our own iconic Eagle publications.
The need for detail began when I worked in an Assessors office, drawing plans for valuation purposes using drawing pens, and this has continued into my building and military illustrations.
My interest in military history was also influenced at an early age by my father who served in the 4th Armoured Brigade 1940 - 46. He could recall vividly people, places and events that fired my imagination in the work I do now. The scenes are mostly scenarios imagined on a battlefield rather than depicting actual actions or specific units and show uniforms, tactics and equipment for the period.
Some of the subject periods include The Roman Empire, Napoleonic, WW1 & WW2.
It appears however that moving from the big smoke to the beautiful Scottish Borders and joining local art groups is having a 'calming effect' on my work as I am now adding to my portfolio landscapes and buildings both locally and abroad.
I hope you enjoy my works, and I look forward to receiving your comments and feedback. Visitors to this website may reach me via my Contact Page .

Bruce
